A publicity photo of Rod Lauren from the 1963 Allied Artists motion picture “The Gun Hawk,” in which he played ‘Reb’ Roan.

Also featured in the cast were Rory Calhoun as the gunslinger Blaine Madden, Ruta Lee as Marleen, and Rod Cameron as the sheriff.

In addition to his role in the movie, Rod also sang the theme song, “A Searcher For Love,” which was performed over the film’s opening credits.

The screenplay for “The Gun Hawk” was written by Jo Heims, who would later write the story and screenplay for “Play Misty For Me,” as well as the story that served as the basis for “Dirty Harry,” both of which helped propel Clint Eastwood to superstardom.
